Description of concentric diamondback terrapin
The common name refers to the diamond pattern on top of its shell (carapace), but the overall pattern and coloration vary greatly.
In most of their range, terrapins live in Spartina marshes that are flooded at high tide, but in Florida they also live in mangrove swamps.
